Here are the basics:
stable internet connection
iPad, laptop or desktop
cellphone or landline
a suitable space in your home for exercising
This current pandemic and social isolation have made it incredibly difficult for seniors to be motivated to continue with their therapy and remain active.
Given these circumstances, our team has decided to provide telehealth/telerehabilitation to our clients to help them recover, stay strong and healthy at the comfort of their homes.
We understand that this service is not suitable for all seniors. This is why we offer the virtual assessment and first session FREE so we can both determine whether you or your loved one will really benefit from this platform.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is telehealth/telerehabilitation?
Telerehabilitation is the use of information or communication technologies to allow you and your physiotherapist or kinesiologist to connect via telephone, video or other remote monitoring technology to receive physiotherapy/kinesiology services at a distance when an in-person visit is not possible.
Is telehealth/telerehabilitation right for me?
That depends on what your goals are and is different for each person. We are more than happy to talk with you on the phone to discuss what you would like to achieve and decide whether or not telerehabilitation is right for you.
What equipment do I need?
An iPad or computer
Stable internet connection
Telephone (mobile or landline)
Ample space to exercise
Family member or caregiver (for those that require assistance)
You may need some exercise equipment (this will depend on your goals and will be discussed with you beforehand)
What can I expect during a session?
In the initial assessment the therapist will ask you to move your limbs and body in certain ways to determine your current status. Following the initial assessment, the therapist will provide you with education on your injury/goal, a management plan, and provide you with exercises. The therapist will go through the exercises with you to ensure that you are performing them properly. In subsequent appointments, the therapist will keep track of your progression and make adjustments (add or modify exercises) as necessary.
How are the virtual sessions conducted?
First, we will have a phone conversation so that you can share any important information about yourself and we can discuss your goals. Following that, we will arrange an initial assessment over the Zoom Video platform. All subsequent appointments will be conducted over Zoom Video.
What if there are technical difficulties/I am not that good with technology?
No need to worry. The first session is free and will be used to sort out any technical difficulties. We will make sure that you are comfortable with the platform before proceeding.
